you and yours - at the centre for alternative technology

Post: # 24033Post multiveg »

Visited CAT last week and there was a reporter from the BBC Radio 4 programme You & Yours. I talked to the reporter, but hope my conversation is not broadcast - on today. I said I wanted a compost toilet!

Edit - phew, not on. By the way, my uploaded pic was taken of part of the compost display they had - toilet compost!! Feels lovely. I used the compost loos while I was there.

Shame I didn't see that earlier - I often listen to you and yours, but missed it today! Was it interesting? (My PC won't let me do "listen again"...)

Was a brief history of the place. They broadcast a couple who started going ages ago and how it had changed. Bit disappointed really with the broadcast. I could soundcapture it and email the mp3 to you ina if you want?

Perhaps we could have a selfsufficientish meet there?

Thanks for the offer - but don't bother with the broadcast... Suppose I can find out about the history in another way. I'll definitely have to visit the place one of these days - but don't get down south a lot anymore!

I totally loved CAT. We went there while camping and walking in NWales a few years ago and are planning to go with the wean sometime. We went to Eden project aswell, and dh, who is sometimes very suprising witht his attitudes to being green (one day I think he is a consumer junkie then he says he wants to go to Big green gathering) said he hated Eden Project - so money grabbing (long story) but that CAT seemed just right!

I loved it - but it does make you feel so unworthy (but most things about greeness do that to me - I do try!)

Don't worry - we all start light green-ish - can always get greener with time!
