hello from East Sussex 2
Hi i'm from Eastbourne and i'm interested to learn more about self sufficiency skills most especially foraging(mainly plants). So far i've been able to locally identify/collect sea kale, sea beet, rock samphire, ramsons, fireweed, lime trees amongst the usual elderflowers, dog rose, nettles, chives, dandelions, wild apple trees, sloes etc but i'm sure there is bound to be much more in my area so i'd be very grateful to trade tips as to where all these goodies can be located.Incidentally i was involved in the recent restoration of the Holy Well natural water spring on the beach at Holywell,Eastbourne which is where i now collect all my drinking/cooking water. As well as the sweet tasteing fresh water this is a wonderful place to hang out attracting so many like-minded people.

Hi Sean, welcome along - i am not far from you at all mate. There is a foraging group in Brighton but i haven't heard of one in Eastbourne. A good magazine you can get is Permaculture Magazine which you can buy from Sunny Foods which is here:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oe=utf-8& ... CBkQnwIwAA
It often has articles on foraging and related topics. Great magazine.

Many thanks everyone for your very warm greetings.
Southeast-isher you are most welcome to come along on any of our foraging trips.I have a couple of friends that are also just getting into foraging and we usually do something at least once a weekend normally in the Holywell/Whitbread Hollow area where we can collect our spring water but we'll be more than willing to venture elsewhere.I'm also curious to learn more about the Brighton foraging group? Thanks for the tip about the Permaculture Magazine.

Hi there and welcome

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
