When harvesting, do you look for insects?

Post: # 228966Post DreamKitty »

 I love foraging but the thing that scares me the most is small insects & nasty creepy crawlies. Im so tired of it though. I simply want to collect the stalks, roots. A whole batch of leaf without hand selecting & examining each indivudal leaf for insects. It is so very time consuming.

What do you guys do? do you simply wash the leaves & forget about what itty bitty insects might be lurking on the underside of the leaves?

I know I sound ridiculous & silly but please give me advice. :sunny:

I don't do a lot of foraging but essentially it's tha same as picking stuff from the garden - the insects don't discriminate

 I just pick 'em and wash them any strays get washed out usually.

I dump all the greens from the garden in a big bowl of cold water, all the creepy crawlies tend to swim to the surface and climb out.
The exceptions are slugs and caterpillars, but they can usually be picked off individually.
