Snow, sprouts and mice
I grew a nice crop of sprouts this year but heavy snowfalls in December meant that they were completely covered in snow. Now that some of the snow has disappeared, I can now see that mice have enjoyed feeding on my sprouts with not one sprout unnibbled. What do other people do in such a situation? Do you pick your sprouts earlier and freeze them? Do you put down poison and/or traps to get rid of the mice? Normally I don't mind them being in the garden but I am not too happy about them feasting on my sprouts.

Re: Snow, sprouts and mice
Dont know about in the garden but we had a little problem with mice recently and I bought a couple of "humane" traps. Trouble was that the mouse was caught in the night and the poor little thing had been trying to chew its way out for hours! It was really traumatised and when I let it go (was told to release it over a mile from home) it just sat and shook. I am pretty sure it died of shock! So...if you trap them use the regular ones which at least are instant death! There must be an answer to deter them...hope someone will come along with it soon.
