Watching my Son in law, sitting with my 2 grand daughters, doing their home-work every evening, and weekends.
Six new laid eggs fresh most mornings. but there are so many things that please me, so I suppose I mean just living.

I can't do great things, so I do little things with love.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Oh loads and loads of little things. Like yesterday after a hard frost and the sun came out and there was a Red Admiral flitting about.
Really most of my life here in the country involves little things that please me, like every single time I see our red squirrels. Never ever tire of them no matter how many walnuts they steal and bury in my garden.
The colour of my Liquidambar which is the only colourful thing which has survived all this wind of late (leaves I mean!).

OOOOh this is a hard one, as several things each day could fit the bill.
This morning it was watching a Magpie balancing on a tiny twig, right at the top of the tree, to eat the Elderberries that I couldn't reach.

The kids didn't leave the bath mat on the floor!
We seem to have a family of black birds, in the hedge in the front garden, who sing beautifully.
The house chicken pottering into the kitchen looking for a tit bit
The brave cat sharing a tit bit with the house chicken
Cuddles from loved ones

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Lie ins - when you look at the clock and think 'on any ordinary day I would be sitting at my desk by now' - same applies to sick days.
Our cats (6 month cat sitting cats) sitting on my lap or getting under the bedcovers and lying on my feet.
Drinking when I am really really thirsty.
6pm on friday nights when I know that it is the point in the week when I have the longest stretch of time off to look forward to.
Certain songs on my ipod when I am walking to work - like 'Perfect weather to fly' by Elbow...lovely.
Cold white wine.

Re: Little things that really please you!
My morning cuddle with my little girl always starts my day off with a smile.
Hearing LO singing her little head off
People walking sideways past my house so they can look at my garden, and the ones who get really excited to finally bump into me so they can tell me they have a look every time they go past and how much they enjoy watching it develop.
When people compliment me on a meal I have cooked and really mean it - especially when I've made it up as I've gone along and didn't have a clue how it would turn out. Oh, and more so when I've used up leftovers.
Watching my son's face when I start talking about feeding slugs to the chickens just as he finishes eating his eggs
and Ishers have made me smile on so many occasions, often because of their generosity, often because of their sense of humor, because they have their feet on the ground when the rest of the world is going mad, and because of their patience when I ask numb-skull questions.

Being really soppy now.........hubby rubbing his bristly beard over my nose and making me laugh.......when he makes me a cuppa - best drink in the world.......someone greeting you with a lovely smile and saying 'how goes the day?'........the sparrows, blackbirds, starlings, greenfinches all waiting on the patio for their daily seed feed.
Life's a bitch and then you diet.

Re: Little things that really please you!
Tons of things! Most things! But things i can think of right now? Hmmm:
Nice ideas for good, happy, and funny threads on here! Like this one, well done!
How well my first crop of parsnips turned out.
How Mikey and I can laugh at anything and turn the worst disasters and misjudgment into a running joke.
How Mikey and i know when not to turn each others disaters and misjudgements into a joke until we are safely in the pub...
Living in a place where its expected of you to say "hello" to everyone you pass.
Living in a place where all the nearby fields are full of food crops. Its fascinating!
One of our neighbours giving me permission to help myself to the brambles in his garden.
Going out for a forage-y cycle!
Learning about all the different good things to forage near our house.
Watching our local fireworks display (run and fired by the local fire service), seeing the fireworks light up the beach and the water. And seeing all the wee fishing boats that had lined up out at sea to watch.
Having a fish shop fairly nearby where the fish come from a harbour about 500yards away, and the man in the fish shop being helpful, knowledgable, interested, chatty and friendly! It was just like on the TV! I was astounded!
Well, i guess thats more than enough for now! Pity we have to leave on tuesday and be away (working) for FIVE months! I'll really have to get my skates on with the garden when i get back!
