Hello from sunny Shropshire

Post: # 214797Post Goatwhisperer »

Hi everyone,
What a great forum, well where to start? Packed up my job as a geologist a couple of years ago and we decided to try and be as self suffient as we could.
Got about two acres plus a large garden so we grow our own veg and some fruit. Two goats provide milk any spare is made into cheese and yogurt.
Thirty chickens and four ducks mean we can sell eggs.
The heating and cooking is all done by wood which i get for free off the next door estate.
Next years project is to produce some of our own power, so i'll probably be picking someone's brains over that one or tearing my hair out

Between Telford and Wolverhampton, lucky you living in Ornkney I did a couple months work for Scottish water surveying the boreholes on the islands in 2007.
We have a dream to buy smallholding there sometime.

Hi Goatwhisperer and welcome to Ish

If you were a geologist you've probably been up our way too - we seem to get hundreds of geology students every year - they're very studious, when they're not studying the local rocks they're studying the range of booze in the pub  (I'm just jealous really)

We were at RAF Cosford (Albrighton) for a total of 12 years and loved Shropshire.........but not as much as Orkney!

Welcome to ISH :flower:

Goats are high on our wish list once we've flitted too. Maybe you could write an article?
