ok, plan of attack is section parts off and weed, then plant, then move onto next section, weed and plant more, but also keep an eye on the first section!

Oh, and when its bad, and weedy, and raining, its not a great plan to take the kids down to "help"

We've all been there - and vowed not to let it happen again, and it did...

If you can't plant straightaway after clearing, why not cover at least part of it with black plastic. That way you got something reasonably clear to start off with, once you get back to it. Some little seedlings will always come up, but a quick hoe or rake is all it needs then... Don't give up yet!

When I had an allotment sometime ago (and stupidly gave it up)
we left it for just a couple of weeks and somehow overgrew whilst we were away! I know how you feel. Our garden is a bit like that as it's been impossible to mow at the moment.

Do a little at a time, you'll get there! I'd like to see it sometime as well! 8)

Clear a very small area.
Turn it into a seed bed.
As things germinate, clear a patch and transplant.

Nature abhors a vacuum. If you don't plant, she will. And you might not like her choice.

If you can't plant as soon as you clear then cover the patch with black plastic or old carpet or an old tarpaulin or something.

Yay, been inspired by finding the pics of the 1st day and been down weeding and digging today. Met our lottie neighbour, got some good tips from her too.

Going down tomorrow to rake the dug patch and plant something woohoooooooo.

Oh, and i found 3 stray spring onions, so we took them home and they were consumed with a yummy salad. Very mild, not sure if thats cos they were pulled too early, or cos they were planted 2/3 yrs ago
