that surprised me

I made some tablemats (nowt new there you might think and you'd be right) used some single spun brown Jacob's wool twisted with some jade/teal coloured crochet cotton that I dug out of the stash, using modular knit technique that I spotted on't'interweb, happy with them.
The surprise was that on a recent visit my daughter in law really liked them so much that I gave them to her, I never expect my family to want anything handmade but someone actually did

They actually sound wonderful, brown and teal are lovely together and I've just googled modular knitting and you are very clever!

I would have been fighting your daughter in law for them ;-).

They sound lovely. I had a look at the modular knitting but got lost after knit one row purl one row.

My in laws are only just coming round to the idea of handmade by me things, but then they do have a 52" TV in a 15 foot sitting room. What more can I say

Another shock in the shockingness, the most difficult person to get a yule gift for > brotherinlaw' saw my slippersocks which are just wool knit socks with a rug wool garterstitch sole added to them for harder wearing purposes and he wants some !!!
now I have to make some posh enough (not just 'that'll do' which is my usual way) for actual gift giving !! Eek
