quotes for now

Post: # 206804Post Andy Hamilton »

Sometimes you come across a quote that hits you with amazing clarity and works for that moment. Earlier this year this one hit me

Grief teaches the steadiest minds to waver.
Sophocles (496 BC - 406 BC),

and then this one hit the mark for right now

The secret of happiness is to make others believe they are the cause of it.
Al Batt, in National Enquirer

but the one I still love the most sits on my signature and is there because I loved the young ones when it was first aired in the 1980's and identified a little with neil.
First we sow the seeds, nature grows the seeds then we eat the seeds. Neil Pye

All the money in the world will never satisfy an impoverished soul - me.
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

lady Aster once said to winston churchill "Mr Churchill you are drunk"
and his reply was " Lady Aster you are ugly but in the morning i shall be sober "
that always raised a laugh when i heard it but i bet it stopped her in her stride

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Andy, love the Young Ones, that is one of my favorite quotes as well. For a long time on my answering machine I had "Open up it's the pigs" also by Neil.

There is also this one, one of my favorites:
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."
— Robert A. Heinlein

And of course, just about anything by Douglas Adams:
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
-Douglas Adams
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
- Douglas Adams
