Shrub ID please
My inlaws have a shrub they can't identify and neither can we. Here's a description:
"Heavily scented, smells like a Viburnum snowball bush only stronger. Pink flowers from April through the summer on and off (doesn't bloom all at once). Evergreen. Vigorous."
When I saw it it was about waist/chest height but pa in law does tend to keep everything clipped, so I imagine it could grow a lot, lot bigger. We are stumped but it does smell lovely.

Re: Shrub ID please
Are the flowers definitely part of the same plant - in that photo they look like something underplanted. It might just be that particular shot though. I've been racking my brains since this morning and still can't come up with anything.

Re: Shrub ID please
Could it be a different strain of viburnum? Viburnum bodnantense looks awfully like that and is heavily scented. Stick the name into google images and have a look?

Re: Shrub ID please
I spent ages yesterday googling, the flowers are similar to Stephanotis, the foiliage reminds me a bit of a honeysuckle..... it's not that other Viburnum cos they already have that one plus the snowball one.
It grows really big apparently but FiL is forever chopping everything back cos he's got a small garden. It could be a climber/semi climbing type like a honeysuckle. We're pretty stumped
and MiL stole a bit of it from somewhere years ago which is why they don't know what it is!

Re: Shrub ID please
I was at RHS Rosemoor yesterday - in the pouring rain- and saw a daphne bholua - the name was something like Jacqueline Postill or Postilla. That was a good size and looked liable to wander a bit if not kept back. It reminded me of your thread as I was debating the ethics of pinching cuttings and filling my pockets at the time. Could it be that?
I didn't pinch anything btw, am naturally law abiding ;-)

Silver Ether I think you have hit the nail on the head
- that link says deciduous but my FIL says it's evergreen, found these piccies which indicate it may well stay green but a bit leathery looking in winter. Is this what it looks like other times of the year?

They didn't mention any berries as we asked, but maybe they never got any/birds ate them.
The foliage has been shouting honeysuckle at me although the flowers were not like the regular honeysuckles.
Trouble is I can't email the inlaws to say look at that link! They don't have/use the internet.
