OK, ok, I know it's early, but I take my Christmas pudding very seriously! Does anyone else make it in June, or am I being a weirdo? Today is Christmas Pudding Day. Here are all my ingredients laid out on top of the oven last night, ready to be mixed today. I wouldn't normally lay them out (I'm not quite that sad) but I wanted my 3-year old to walk in and see it all this morning and get all excited. As soon as she's home from pre-school we'll be getting stuck in

Mixing today, leaving to soak overnight, and we'll be spending the whole of tomorrow steaming (making 2 little ones, so 16 hours steaming in all

)
I'm being very well-behaved and traditional this year - actually STICKING TO THE RECIPE - and making Delia Smith's Classic Christmas Pud. My boyfriend bought me her Happy Christmas book last Christmas, so it seems only grateful to use it

OK, actually, I had to cheat a tiny bit on the recipe - I couldn't find barley wine so I bought some Bishop's Finger ale instead (a Kentish classic!) and I couldn't afford a bottle of rum so I'm nicking the last of my boyfriend's Jack Daniel's instead. Hey, alcohol's alcohol!
Sorry about the poor quality of the pic - mobile phone effort....
