two sick chicks

Post: # 195936Post herbalholly »

Two of my little chicks are not wanting to walk about. When they do they can't seem to balance properly and they fall over. One has normal poo and fair appetite, the other has more watery poo and less appetite. They've gone to bed now (in their warm hut with their seemingly well brothers and sisters). Anyone got any ideas? Should I isolate them - they won't like it and I think it'd reduce their chance of survival but I don't want them all to get sick. I don't like them idea of distressing them by taking them away from what they know.

They were eating well. Nothing unusual happened today.

It's very sad to see. Any help appreciated.

I've had similiar problems in years past. Sometimes they get better, others they don't. There doesn't seem to be any reason or cure. I wish I could help, but I'd like to know too.

Thank you. They made it through the night and both look much better (the occasional unsteady step but you wouldn't notice unless you were really looking out for it) I'm going to keep the house extra warm today and light a fire after breakfast. I've put some finely cut garlic in their food mix which they seem to like, just in case it's an infection.

They're sad little things when they're poorly but I think they might be ok. Wish I knew what had happened.

Glad to hear that they are looking a little better - sometimes these things do just happen - they look fine and are doing well then all of a sudden they are gone with no obvious cause.
