Garden beds were prepared for planting. The cover crop of red annual clover, which survived the Winter, was weed whacked to prevent clogging the rototiller tines. The clover was then rototiller to a depth of about ten inches, then the area was smoothed with a hand rake, ready for planting.

8 May. It is going down to minus 2 C tonight. It is now very windy and the temperature is 5 C.
