Does anybody else do this?

Just watching Edible Garden with er in doors and my mind tends to wander
But thinking of sweetcorn does anyone do what we do? when I find a couple of cobs ready for picking I put a pan of water on and once it is boiling I pull the cobs and rip off the the outer leaves as quick as possible to get they cob in the pan in seconds Its the only time I run

Not grown sweetcorn since I was 10 but I've heard that you should walk through the garden, down the the corn but then run back........

No, but I'm the odd one. I don't like modern sweet corn. I leave it in the fridge for about a week in the hope it will become less sweet. Think I was brung up on maize.

I've read that that's the proper way to do it Dave, but alas I'm no runner. I grow it at my allotment and if I want to harvest it, I do that last before I come home and put the pan on as soon as I walk through the door.

I pick it and pop it straight into a hot oven, (leaves and all) for about 10/15mins. Peel back the leaves which double up as a handle and just enjoy

I have barbequed them straight from the garden ,leaving the leaves on means they keep all thier flavour and do not even need butter...turning often they do not catch fire ...I shall do them in the oven like this as well from now on..

Shove the whole thing in the microwave, 3 mins. Pull off the husks, serve with butter and black pepper.

Stick em on the BBQ, leaves on. They steam themselves quite nicely. Then peel the leaves back and you've got a something to hold the cob with while you eat it.

I've tried that what phil55494 suggests. The leaves, peeled back, do make a great holder. Have you guys tried without the leaves and put em on a BBQ? Put a stick into the the corn too, like you do with a BBQ. I like the taste better when it's grilled.
