Free Seeds. Daily mail (offer ended)

Post: # 190517Post seasidegirl »

The offer seems worth it to me. Ten packets of kitchen garden seeds for £2.99 postage.

Includes tomatoes, carrots and leeks.

You have to buy the paper to send the voucher off.

Also I've been buying seeds from Poundland. You get six different varieties in one pack for £1 (amazingly  ).

Lots of different selections. Some of mine are germinating. Oregano, rocket so seem ok.

Sounds quite good but, jeez, the Daily Mail! Would hate to boost their circulation.

I know everybody has their personal campaigns but I didn't exactly suggest anyone boil small children in oil. Neither did I post the info to boost any circulation.

Somebody here might be glad of a deal like this but even if you hate the paper you could get them by taking this up as its obviously a loss leader. Make some pots out of it and grow some toms in them.

sg - it was a good and useful post. A lot of people will get the benefit from their offer and will come out unscathed from the DM

We always like offers like this and try to share them with everyone. But I still can't bring myself to buy one

So keep 'em coming. Just because some of us are grumpy old lefties doesn't mean others can't benefit. And take no notice of us.

Cheers everyone.

Tbh I was a bit taken aback at the reaction. I only bought the paper FOR the seed offer but I do this with lots of products. Having said that I buy a variety of papers (when I've got spare cash) and do this because I like to get a spread of opinion.

Special offers and competitions are usually the pull. Like using these companies for my own ends. Went on a luxury holiday to Hong few years ago courtesy of the Evening Standard which I believe is all part of the same group.

The company that paid for the trip can have responsibility for the carbon

Just out of interest, has the Daily Mail turned into a tabloid? I can't understand why people hate it so much. It was the newspaper I grew up with and as a teenager I found it readable (small format) and not all highbrow like the Times (plus I've never liked large page newspapers!). I haven't bought or read one in probably nearly 30 years now and online it is all full of celeb gossip, so wondered if it had become like the Sun or Mirror?

It's a tabloid and always has been from what i remember. The times is now in tabloid size (a berliner) but is a broadsheet paper essentially, correct me if i'm wrong.

People i care about read the Daily Mail so i guess i can't complain about it too much. They just seem to be so negative towards things which other newspapers find positive, if you know what i mean. I find them disingenous. I find the stories they select to cover negative and the ones they do select they paint a negative picture.

My problem is not whether they are low-brow or high-brow, that really doesn't matter, my problem is the picture they paint. There always seems to be implicit rebuke leaving you to read between the lines.

I think it's a very bad newspaper for society.

By tabloid I didn't mean small size pages, I meant papers like the Sun and Mirror. Those are what I think of when people say the word tabloid! I thought tabloid just meant celeb goss and no news type of newspapers, not to mention the page 3 girls! I always have a 'read' of my ma in law's Mirror when I go there, just for the sheer laugh I get at seeing no news content whatsoever.

Anyway that was what I was asking if it had turned into, a page 3 celeb no news type of paper. Cos it was a perfectly normal newspaper in the past. Shame it has become so negative.

Yeah but.... I'm trying to establish whether it has turned into a paper like the Mirror and Sun (contents as listed above), or is it still a newspaper that reports news minus the stuff I listed above? I can't go out and have a look as I live in France!!!

It's the same pretty much, incorrigibly so, as it always has been. Same contents. Same self-serving disingenousness and divisiveness! Grrrrrrrr :banghead:
