Should I rip them out? Fertilise them? What can I do to prevent this happening to future plants?

Beans this time...
Ok here are my next "new gardener" issues. The Brown Beauty beans growing in a tyre are looking all rough and curly and there are never any flowers, I accidently planted some in the courgettes and they are doing very nicely- quite a few beans- but these ones look terrible.
No signs of pests or chewing but some browning visible (can be seen in the picture)
Should I rip them out? Fertilise them? What can I do to prevent this happening to future plants?

I don't know! Maybe there isn't enough depth of soil in the tyre or they are drying out too much?
Sometimes things like this just happen, I've had one lot of French beans flowering profusely then another lot which I sowed a month later for successional harvesting hardly had a flower or bean on. Same soil, same climate, but ..... dunno!
