Rare/Exotic Fruits/Herbs

Post: # 185719Post ElizabethBinary »

Since I'm growing things myself, I thought I might as well have rare things! I am getting a black sapote (CHOCOLATE FRUIT, PEOPLE. FRUIT THAT TASTES LIKE CHOCOLATE!!) tree this week. I already have a lychee tree. I've been growing heartseas and lovage, as well. I like learning about new things as I grow them.

What else would you recommend? Something tasty and fun to grow that's not commonly used anymore? :dontknow:

ive just picked up some lovage seeds :) been planning on growing them for a while.

this year im increasing my varieties of chillies, sweet peppers and squash.

i love ginger so i already have some of that planted up and living in the house.

i really really really want to grow a gingko biloba tree.

also i would love it a lot if a patch of nettles would just spring up in my garden and a nice bit of burdock but strangely the 'weeds' i want to grow dont bother.

I've seen ice cream bean trees hanging around a lot lately! I'll get them!! Custard apples are fairly common here, actually. I get them at the market! Breadnut sounds good. So does butternut. :D

Here's what I bought yesterday:

Peter Peppers (LOL why not?)
Burgundy Okra
Silene capensis Xhosa Dream Herb - used by native americans to help meditational dreaming! Should be entertaining.
white mulberry ( morus alba )
Black Mulberry
himalayan raspberry -rubus ellipticus seeds
native raspberry seeds -- rubus rosifoliu
huckleberry vaccinium deliciosum
taiwan raspberry seeds
mangelwurzel
lime basil
hybrid chocolate vine

...raspberries are my favourite fruit. Can you tell?
