we grew it from seed, we had 2 caulis and 4 cabbage in our veg patch.. only 1 cauli and 1 cabbage is doing anything [the cabbage is HUUUUUUUUUUGE in comparison]. yesterday we folded the leaves over the cauli.. is that what youre meant to do?!

i think when the allotments sorted we'll grow more, but stagger them so they appear at varying times.. in theory.

still, im well chuffed, never grown cauli before

Your Cauli could still end up a reasonable size as they all start off looking tiny, then they swell up to become the cauli you were expecting.
It's a good idea to stagger them, cauliflowers are the worst for all maturing at exactly the same time, and as they don't stay in good condition for long, it's not easy to deal with a dozen at the same time.

Anyone got any real tips for staggering cauliflowers and broccoli. My experience is that you can plant them a month apart and they will still come up within days of each other and the only real solution is to use different varieties, but considering you only want a few of each, this can be expensive and wasteful buying 3 or 4 different packs of seeds.

Swaps? On our allotments we do alot of swapping. I grow too much of most stuff from seed and we do share the leftovers. I think the seed lasts about 6 years anyway.
One of our regualr swap friends starts her cauli really early in the greenhouse so hers always mature before mine (and are better :? )
Not sure if it works but I'm giving it a go...realseed do a variety thats a bit mixed deliberately so they don't all come at once.

Other than that I've not been lucky enough to have that many successes for the glut yet- but I'm preparing for the day....in hope. I do a good marrow glut though
