The Cold cold weather

Post: # 14103Post Andy Hamilton »

So we are 10 days away from the start of British summer time and I still have to wear a t-shirt under my shirt, a jumper over the top etc....

Is anyone else getting rather annoyed at this lack of good weather, when do you think we can actually get some stuff planted. I guess it is a good thing for garlic growing as they need a bit of cold to get them started so can still get away with planting this late. Not sure if I dare plant a lot out even next month at the present rate of things.

The thingy in June is the Mid-summer Solstice, so summers half over by the time we get there. British summer time starts on mothers day this year.

Tat's probably because our seasons are confused. Don't feel too bad about it.

I thought spring had just about arrived until the last couple of days, minus temps again in the morning. Because it is light early I'm having to go out before 8am to break the ice on the chickens' water. Irritating as this is my internet and forum time!!!

Apologies for this, but I don't get back into my house again until April 1st so spring is postponed until then. Hedgewizardry rulez!

Mixed up seasons all round. We had a week of cooler weather, now it's warmed up to 30 - 35c through the day. Even getting a second crop of mulberries.

I think we are in for a little more snow at the weekend. And maybe some sleety showers today in the West. I shall be wearing my biggest jumper until June at this rate!

been shivering here for a while - last few days have been cold and damp with snow drizzle showers... this morning we've got a snow covered landscape again - more over the next couple of days, but according to the local paper it won't be nearly as bad as last time!! Let's keep fingers crossed.

it was -1c last night. Nev says that it is cooling donw there too getting below 30c. humpt!

My worry is that I will get all my seedlings out then we will get a sharp frost in May/June that will put us all back. Hopefully I will read this back in May/June whilst wearing my shorts and sandals and wonder what I was ever worried about.
