Hello from Cheshire, UK

Post: # 160905Post Ben1971 »

Hi everyone. I'm Ben from Alsager in Cheshire. I heard about this site a long time ago and came across it recently whilst looking for information on chickens so thought I'd join and get some more ideas.

I have just got me 2 hens! A Bluebell and a Warren. I plan to get two more... hopefully 2 Light Sussex. They sleep in my 6x4 garden shed which I devided into two... one side for the chickens and the other for my lawnmower, gardening tools, chicken feed and bedding. A pop-hole and a 7x8ft run. It's amazing what you can do with a bit of scavanged wood! I try to let them have the run of the garden during the day if I'm at home..... have to be careful of Mr Fox!

I am also hoping to turn a thin strip of land at the end of my garden into a veg patch.

Hi MMM, yes they are pretty indeed. Unusual ccolour. I was told they are a hybrid.... a cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Maran.

Good news! They are both laying now!!!

Mine aren't yet but I've only had them 2.5 weeks. They are finally starting to settle down as they were really timid, but then I've got two oldies that they went in with. Enjoy your eggs!
