Potimarron Project

Post: # 160224Post Milims »

I picked up a copy of the Positive News the other day,
http://www.positivenews.org.uk/cgi-bin/ ... elcome.cgi
and saw this
http://www.rainbow-taichi.org.uk/site/t ... n-project/
If you send 4 first class stamps to:
THe Potimarron Project
Creek Farm
Woodland
Ashburn
Newton Abbot
Devon
TQ13 7JY
they will send you some seeds. In return you are to donate 70% of your crop to a local homeless shelter of soup kitchen and pass on any unused seeds to someone else. I thought it was a rather lovely idea.

A tad late for sowing potimarron seed this year though.
I assume their "now is the time to sow ..." refers to when the site was written about April/May

Good idea for next year though as my potimarrons (and presumably everyone else's) produce far more pumkins than we can eat.

I've just googles them and apparently you sow them indoors in April/May but have to wait until the soil is warm before you sow them outside so it may not be too late in some places.
