Dry skin

Post: # 13154Post Tigerhair »

What can I use as a scrub for my dry back, arms, face, hands... etc! This time of year is a killer! I normally use bought salt or sugar scrubs.... anyone have any recipes for home made stuff?

Chuck a handful of Oats into your bath water or place some in a bit of muslin which ties round the tap so as the flow of water passes through.
This will moisturise your skin and leave it wonderfully soft.

Lanolin (the hydrated stuff not anhydrous) is very good for your skin. Try getting hold of a sheep and rubbing over the affected parts.

I can't wait to hear the story you give to the farmer to explain your actions

for a 'kitchen facial'

oats moistened with a little baby lotion for a scrub

followed by

a little honey spread on in a thin layer, massages and left until fairly sticky for circulation and helping to soften skin

egg white for firming (apply and wait until dry) - use the yolk for shiny hair)

end with nomal facial moisturiser

make sure you're not expecting anyone - don't want to be seen with egg on your face

for all over body exfoliation - soften skin with baby oil (good excuse for a massage)leave for 20 mins, follow with a relaxing soak in the tub - best done AH when childen in bed. just use a face washer for scrubbing skin. I use a sock of oats in the tub as well.

My daughter spent some years as a dancer and they use olive oil with a handful of sea salt to exfoliate and moisturise all in 2 minutes. Rub it on really hard and the salt exfoliates and then dissolves so that it can be showered off leaving a layer of oil. It really is effective and the dancers did it everyday before each show.
