Rabbits,anyone keep these for eating?

Post: # 145752Post matowakan »

I was thinking about keeping a few rabbits purely for eating.
Is there any particular breed for this that is good?
Also any pitfalls I should know about? :?

californians ,newzealands, english rabbits all good for eating.
put the doe in with the buck to mate as other way around the doe will attack the buck,
keep young with mum to 6 weeks old ,split sexs at 8 weeks old, cull at 16 weeks old
doe raises 6-8 kits best.
im orginally from dorset and was talking to a mate and his father in law was breeding californians/newzealand x german giant hybrids and he had to cull aload as he was overrun with them apperently hes got a freezer full, and me mates sons got one as a pet.
