Always good to be given a plug, eh? Last I heard there was a shortage of the Ish Bible. Any news on another print run?Check out Andy and Dave Hamilton's website (selfsufficientish.com), and his book The Self-Sufficient-ish Bible (£30, Hodder & Stoughton).

The interview I did for Essentials magazine at the beginning of December has finally appeared in the new March issue. Hmm. OK.
I guess I should have expected words to be put in my mouth, but I feel it makes me look a bit stupid saying I go digging in the pouring rain
which of course I don't. And where I said, "I have sown a small patch of winter wheat in the hope that I can have a go at grinding my own flour to make bread. I couldn't possibly become self-sufficent in flour, but I want to try it out of interest. " it has appeared in the magazine as "[ I ] want to grow wheat so I can make my bread from scratch", which I feel gives the impression I think you can grow enough wheat on a couple of allotments to never have to buy flour again. I also feel that my efforts to put across the other ways of being self-sufficient (ish), like home-baking didn't come across hardly at all.
Perhaps I'm just feeling a bit critical and sensitive today. Other info like where I 'say' we haven't bought veg for six months is out of date now, as we have bought a couple of sacks of carrots and 3 sacks of spuds since then, but hey ho. On a postive note it also says

The press always put word in your mouth, and always fail to mention the things you want them too.... oh well...
Well done for getting in there though
- anyway we can see it online?

Rosie, I once did a (mention no names, it was the daily mirror) newspaper interview for iVillage & T*sco Shape-Up Challenge..... was quoted as having lost 5 stone in 5 months - I'd lost 2 stone.... was quoted as saying that I ate nothing but McD's before - when I actually said 'I even have an occasional McD's now & again & I don't beat myself up about it' I was also quoted as saying that my entire diet was made up of healthy eating T*sco's own processed ready meals.... and I've never even bought one!!
So yeah, your interview could have been put a LOT differently indeed!
Umm.... I'm making my own bread every other day, so when you've ground your wheat up, pop some over, there's a love!
