Do you keep livestock? Having any problems? Want to talk about it, whether it be sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, bees or llamas, here is your place to discuss.

We live in Leicester & our local authority won't even allow us to keep "pet" pigs. They say they must be at least 300 metres from any dwelling. (Which they would have been in said authority had n't allowed the "infill" on the old lido site behind our fence! :angryfire: )

Not sure if this is a standard rule but a quick call to your authority should clarify things.

I REALLY hope Bristol is more piggy-friendly though!:thumbright:

Check the rules in your area, some places have extensive bans on livestock, others are fairly lenient.

Then check the space requirements for the animal and breed you want, some need lots of room, some don't.

Also check your house deeds. Ours is old and has restrictions on keeping pigs or brewing ale commercially,

Oh, what a shame Jim.
I was going to call round this Christmas for a pint and a ham sandwich.

Dear Odsox,

The deeds might forbid it but, apart from the land registry, who else would know ..... (providing Ishers keep quiet that is). Mid-day Christmas Eve and Hampshire Special Bitter suit you? Oh, and do you prefer English or French Mustard on your ham?

But can we rely on that Jim ?

Actually I prefer Murphys or at a pinch, Guinness, but English mustard of course.

Dear Odsox,

Murphys ain't bad, but when I last visited Cork, in October, found that Beamish was good too. However, nowhere near as good as H.S.B!
