Hello from Glasgow

Post: # 130844Post prawncracker »

Hi there, I've been lurking unregistered on your forum for ages now so thought I'd join in!

My forays into being ishly self-sufficient have so far been minimal - making damson gin, jam, ginger beer from proper ginger beer plant, making bread and picking wild stuff. Can't think of any more

I love cooking so am looking to steal recipes. I am also looking for ideas to stock an overlooked garden (we are about to be surrounded by new builds that weren't there before, including a nice big block of apartments) and give us a bit of privacy and I'd like tips on how to compost properly. Plants that do well in shady spots :pale: . Would love my own damson trees too. Did I mention garden is size of hankie?

Anyway - hello - I'll be off to see if any of the answers to the above are already in the forum before I ask. What a good newbie I am.

xx

Hi prawncracker and welcome

Do I take it you're partial to a takeaway?

Not had a Chinese in 18 months - oh now you've got me craving - nearest is 70 miles away! Heyho.

a takeaway? moi? only if there is an r in the month

I admit to being rather unimaginative when I registered and was looking at a packet of them. Following that train of thought my username could have been 'toilet roll', 'dead plant' or 'dirty floor'.

Thank you for the welcome!

Welcome to 'ish... we just moved out of Glasgow 1 1/2 years ago, now 25 miles south in rural lanarkshire.

I do miss the bramble picking along the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal.

Hiya Prawncracker, welcome to the world of Ish! I spent half a year just outside Glasgow a few years ago... With plenty of "garden" - I was working for a market garden...
