Advice for a very warm windowsill needed

Post: # 130786Post Feygan »

I'm after some ideas on what to grow in one room of the house. Due to the animals kept in there, the room is kept at a day/night range of 70-80f.

I've two windowsills, one is around 2ft, the other around 3ft.

My first thought is a chilli, but I can't think of many other things that will happily grow in a windowsill box in that heat?

Also since it stays at that all year round, will I have problems with plants not "knowing" proper seasons? Or are there things out there that will thrive like that?

I'd have a decent sized Basil pot.... a trough for little gem lettuce... and a christmas cactus!
Simply because I've had a christmas cactus in one form or another for the last 35 years, & my latest acquisition (salmon pink flowers) bought last year is an absolute stunner! If all the buds come true this year, we'll have a gorgeous display in a few weeks time :flower:
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

I would try aubergines, they like warm weather, and what about melons?
Also could try lemons?

I have some giant bamboo seeds that I will be trying to grow next year. You can get them going for me if you like as it all sounds a little complicated to me.

It's only when you look at an ant through a magnifying glass on a hot sunny day that you realise just how often they spontaneously combust!
