Welcome xone.

Do you, by any chance, have any up to date knowledge re planning permission and wind turbines - especially in Scotland?

If not, welcome anyway

As far as I know planning isn't usually required for small domestic installations in England as long as you don't have any nieghbours less than 100ft away from you, otherwise you do. It's deffo worth a check with your local authority though before you spend any money. As for Scotland you do require planning permission to install any form of micro generation equipment. Although I do believe that Scotish parliament is reviewing this as we speak and this may be a different case come 2009. You can always instsall a turbine and apply for planning retrospectivly or just wait till someone mentions it to the council and then apply when they bring it up with you, most people don't bother to moan about them these days as there are becoming more frequent, you should as a matter of course speak to your nieghbours, if you have any, and discuss with them the least obtrousive way of installation. I would like to point out that turbine attached to houses are no good and produce little to no electricity and I'd only ever suggest to anyone that a turbine should be sited as far away as possible form any large objects, as wind turbulance really palys havock with them, and site them on there own and not on any form of building.

I said hello in another thread xone, but well I am here now anyway.

Welcome to 'ish

I guess it is like most planning permission and will depend on your local council planning dept. green aura, I have been told it is always best just to phone the dept as you can never get correct info online
