We have Tamworths, Saddlebacks, GOS, Vietnamese potbellies, Swallowbelly Manalitzas, soon to be arriving, Kune Kune's, Blonde and Red Mangalitzas, and fingers crossed, a French Bayeaux gilt. We are a small registered farm, preparing to sell our pork and pork products to the public. We already sell our weaners, and are currently involvoing ourselves in the conservations and education of the Mangalitza breeds.
I have just started breeding rabbits to sell as meat later - not sure how I will fare with that, they are so cute! We also have chickens, ducks, geese, goats and Ouessant sheep. They are for us, and we are about to process our first lamb for the freezer, and at the end of October I have 10 meat chickens and 10 ducks to process also for the freezer. It has been very satisfying to see the little critters enjoying themselves through the year, but the time is looming, and at the end of the day that is why we are doing it. There is something very satisfying knowing that the meat on your plate and been reared at home and really enjoyed its life.
We haven't ventured into veg - no time to spare on doing it as much as we would love to.
Looking forward to integrating into the forum and getting to know everyone.
Kate
