Post: # 122386Post greyman »

found these while walking the dog
picked just the two(these were the smaller ones)
had a look on rogers mushrooms and think that they are these
http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/ ... d~5812.asp

just seems a shame for them to goto waste if they are edible
as there were loads of them, some like dustbin lids
if i walk that way tomorrow with the dog i'll take a pic of them

Tempting I know.... but I'd not be sure enough about them myself. Up here in Aberdeen, the author of the Horse Whisperer book Nicholas Evans and his mushroom eating party are currently in hospital having eaten poisonous mushrooms. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/u ... 660269.ece

Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along.

LOL I think that might be one of his youngsters!

Going back to your description, they would appear to be somewhat larger than the Clitopilus prunulus that you thought they might be. The usual size of them according to Rogers Mushrooms is 5-15cm.
