Wind Power too
Wind Power too
Well, I do-ed it!
When I met up with Andy and Dave I was telling them the problem I had with the council and the costs they added to getting a wind generator. Well, after finding out about the wind generator for Boots, I thought about it ($700 down to $450!). I have bought one! It is still in the garage in boxes and I have yet to put it together.
So I guess now I have to open up meaningful dialogue with my council building inspectors and try and beat their prices down!

The inspector was really nice about it, but councils are councils. I have had a whinge to their Environmental Education Officer, so I will see what fruit that brings.......

Makes me quite angry this does, they should be giving YOU money to try and go off grid.

Yeah, it is frustrating but it really is early days for this stuff, from the official point of view. The first response to this sort of enquiry is usually a stunned silence. Anyway, it has been 18months or so since my original enquiry so maybe things have got better. I will keep you all posted!

Nev...Never do alone what you can do with other like minded folk...
Am sure this guy (and his mates) will support your cause! And no doubt be able to simplify things a bit for the suits.

You too Nev. It is great to be an Aussie. We may have a whacky government, (who doesn't?) but there's not much else we can't label great.
Slept in and missed the ceremony - but had a great day trekking about talking to other Aussie's and just enjoying the fact we have a day to feel grateful. Visited a couple of guys who had built a log hut out of junk yard materials. Am so impressed. They were so proud of it, they offered to build me one!!! lol Have no doubt there was a heap of hard yakka involved in that, let me tell ya! When I said this, the old guy said, "Well, I aint lazy! No-one would have anything if they were lazy!"
I figure that pretty much sums up our country's development.
Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!

Onya Boots,
Yep this place'll do me.
I spent most of the day sorting out the garden. The blokes you talked to sound pretty interesting - get any photo's?
