another recycled goody; once a red tunic top for a lady, not a red top and some pj trousers (not pictures) for a teeny tiny toddler.

Ooh - that's ace!

I'm almost inspired to get my sewing machine out - if it wasn't for the 4 knitting WIPs I need to finish before I start anything else!

if you have a large bust, DO NOT do the padded but thin straps, use thiicker straps which will distrubute the weight between your boobs and across more of your shoulders.
same for if you have "natural padding" around your hips, make wide straps.

x-box attatchments for strap to body piece are essential.

don't scrimp on seaming, double or triple seaming is worth it for longevity.

The Mai Tai is one the most popular rum cocktails and was invented in 1944 by Trade Vic Bergeron. To mix your own Mai Tai you will need the following ingredients: -
One large shot (50ml) of dark rum
One small shot (25ml) of orange Curaco
One small shot of apricot brandy
The juice of one lime
2 dashes of orgeat syrup
2 dashes of sugar syrup
Sprig of mint for garnish
Fill a coctail shaker 2/3 of the way up with ice and add the rum, orange curaco, apricot bandy, lime juice, orgeat syrup and sugar syrup. Place one half of the lime husk into an old fashioned chilled glass, topping up with crushed ice. Shake the cocktail well and strain the contents into the drinks glass, finishing with the sprig of mint to garnish. Enjoy!

Erm - I'm guesing you are having a girls in Red Pyjamas night in then??!! lol  :drunken:

Thank you MrsFlibble, I'm a very similar shape to you so I'm following your instructions closely. I'm using this pattern - http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/asian.html but intend to make it with the leftover pieces of a Thunderbirds duvet cover (the rest of which made a skirt for my friend). Did you pad out the back piece as well as the straps? And am I right in thinking that it will have four seperate straps which then tie in two knots/bows at the front? From the diagrams I've seen I keep thinking that its like a rucksack top straps with only the waist straps tying but that doesn't seem the case? Help!

depends on what pattern you are using as to what shape it will be, and if you're using a bed cover as the body piece you NEED NEED NEED a thicker fabric to line it with. mine is cotton, but lined with heavy duty curtain fabric.
I took ideas from lots of different tutes and made my own pattern.

I made mine with much shorter straps than most pattern suggest, and there are loads of way to wear it - I prefer to wear E on my hip... means we can talk and I can keep an eye on her.

When I do have her on my back I don't cross the straps over my boobs, can't think of anything less comfortable :? I bring the straps over my shoulders and cross them over under her bum and tie at the front.

And yes you MUST have nice thick straps (mine are 4 1/2 inches) and you MUST use really good thick fabric - I use upholstery fabric, just a little lighter than denim.
