Wooden bowl

I got given a fantastic piece of spalted walnut, it has the most amazing markings.
I started wood turning a few years ago, but just when I was getting competent we emigrated - the lathe had to get dismantled and steam cleaned, then it took a year before I finally got my shed set up with power, then it was too hot this summer to be out in a metal shed, so today was the first time in a over two years that I actually got out to play on the lathe again. It is not perfect, but I am pretty proud of it.

Wow, that's beautiful. Wood turning's a skill I'd love to have. I quite often look at some chopped olive logs and picture them as wonderfully tactile household items. I can dream.
