Broad beans, pods and all.

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

I have periodically read that you can eat young broad beans, pods and all (mange tout). Tried them tonight and can confirm they are delicious and no podding and freezing!

Thanks for the tip. Being the middle of winter here I can't grow beans and I have some broad bean seeds, never though to use them that way. Will stick them in the ground tomorrow!!

If you have plenty of seed Colours you can sprout them in a jar on the windowsill and eat the young shoots like Mung Beansprouts.
You can also do it with pea sprouts, very useful in mid-winter.
