 Well, I'm not sure whether that's supposed to be German or Dutch! If it's German, the first word should be "Blaugruene" correctly, and that means blue-green. Makes sense. (Are they?) The rest, I'm afraid, doesn't make any sense to me, so I suspect it's a Dutch name...

What's in a name... As long as they are nice, strong leeks! (Not like mine :? )

Too true Ina,

I have a few names for my leeks but they are unmentionable! I think the name on the packet was 'KATE MOSS' super model leeks.

Never mind, next year, big fat leeks for me ~ hopefully.
If in doubt ~ use a hammer!

I wish mine were at least as tall as Kate Moss!!! Yes, size does matter.

According to Linda (Who is learning Dutch) Dutch it is and it means Bluegreen Autumn Something (possibly earth but not with that spelling).

OK I'll check the spelling. I did understand the bluegreen bit though!

my leeks are skinny too, and my soil had lots of horse muck, seaweed and mushroom compost....they still make lovely soup though....I think it was lack of water

Spelling was right apart from blauwgroene! Must find an online translator to see what Ardea means. :?
