Thanks Andy, yes most places in NZ are named after English or Scottish towns and cities...

Same with us boots if it's not Maori it's british...

and Woo Poo is a home organic business, which I have been meaning to call in and ask the obvious but haven't as yet...

I have been searching and I can't find the post re straw bale gardens, I asked Jack some questions but I can't find it now... is there a way of finding out where I posted other than my memory????? :oops: :oops:

Well, only Christchurch and Dunedin are... Auckland is named after Lord Auckland, and Wellington the Duke of Welly.

Then there's Rotorua, Hokatika, Kaiwaka, Whangarei, Wanganui, Opotiki, Whakatane, Ohope, Te Raiwhiti, Kawerau, Tamaranui, Kaitaia, Kaikohe, Waipu, Matamata, Te Kuiti, etc. Most of us live in Maori named towns... :mrgreen:

But don't worry, if you immigrate here, we'll teach you how to pronounce those names.

Hi Andrea,
I have bought a place in Sales rd ... a wee cottage on 2 1/4 and move in on the 20th April... I look forward to getting settled and putting in a vege garden, I have a bit of fencing to do for the sheep. oh so many plans. .
I will email you, thanks... I actually nearly got to one of your cheese making courses a couple of years ago but not quite... :oops:

Oh, nice one! Sales Rd is a nice spot - we have friends down on the corner of Sales and Ashley Gorge Rd, and I love to drive up over that steep hill to get there, just for the view over Oxford (and the heavenly scent of all the beehives on the hilllside!!). Good luck with everything!
