i'm in kent! *jumps up and down madly* i'm near(ish) canterbury. i used to go to college there! i'm in folkestone! fairly keen on foraging but i'm very much a beginner. my husband is interested too (doesnt post on here just looks over my shoulder) but like me, is very much a beginnner.

well theres the warren, which is near a secluded beach and lots of wild rabbits. we found a whole heap of rosehips there in the winter. and there's up the hills which is er, the south downs/north downs? i get confused. but theres sugarloaf hill and ceasers camp - the hills with the picture of the big horse on it. but you have to be quite wary as cows are allowed to roam all over the hills so lots and lots of cow pats and a high chance of bumping into a cow!

Quite a variety of habitats for foragables, woodland, marshland, fields & hedgerows. It's a pretty good mix.

I am in Kent, Bromley area, bit of a long way from Canterbury.

Do you know of Fergus Drennan, the wild-food man? He lives next to the Blean, Canterbury's ancient woodlands. He has a site/blog:- www.wildmanwildfood.com (I have not looked at this site yet) He gets a bit extreme with road kill etc., example, boling up a Badger for lard!

Would be nice to know of locals who know about foraging stuff, no roadkill for me just yet though.

Yeah, I know Fergus, he occasionally posts on a few other forums that I frequent.

At he moment he's engaged in an experiment trying to live totally on foraging - right up to trying to make his own clothing. Reading his blog is amazing, I've never met anyone so committed to the entire experience.

Hi Jondy, i lived in Beckenham for a year, and although i didnt know much about or have much time for foraging i remember Kelsey park having quite a few nut trees and whatnot. although saying that theres a lot of squirrels. but might be worth a look. its a great park anyway even if you dont find anything.

Picked a nice big pile of seabeet the other day and noted where the marsh samphire is sprouting (looking forward to coming back for that when it's ready, it's lovely stuff). Also checking out young Mugwort shoots and may do some experiments with it once I've dried some.

Made the seabeet into a lovely rich pasta sauce with cheese yesterday. The remainder will be thinned a little for a soup.

Hmmm...
