Planning permission for small straw-bale construction?

Post: # 97450Post duncang »

Good Morning,

I am starting a new venture, and what I am hoping is to network around for a farmer I can lease a corner of his field off, and I would like to build a small (30sq metres max) straw bale building, single storey with a wooden frame.
I was intending on using a car tyre foundation (for insulation as well) and wonder what planning permission would be required for this. Is ALL building prohibited on agricultural land, or only builds considered as permanent or with serious foundation work?

Any advice here greatly appreciated!!

Many thanks,
Duncan

I have no idea - but it might also depend on your location (Scotland often has different laws from England).

definatly talk to your local planning ofice but dont phone them go in person and only talk to the person who deals with that area. disscusions over the phone with unknown person result in wasted time and effort

try hard , mean well and never give up
