Depends on the size of the iris like things - really it would be better to let them grow and flower this year so that you can make a positive identification and see what size they are.

Bearded irises are enormous so deffo not for pots, but the little rock garden types would probably be fine in large pots, at least for a year or two, until the rhizomes spread. Then they'd need dividing up and repotting.

This is a bit late, but I've been breaking my back digging up stuff.

I couldn't get a better picture for all the mess, but there are pots in the corner which haven't been touched in over a year, and this looks very similar. More life to it too.

And going over the pots, I'd forgotten about this. Looks like it really wants to live and climb. Any ideas what it is though. This is the most life it's ever had in it. Got to nearly 5 foot tall.

I'd best make these the last, before I totally subvert the new members section.

The iris in the pot looks just like a bog-standard Bearded Iris to me - I can see how the rhizomes have broken the pot! Can you plant it out as it is obviously desperately rootbound?

The second plant is a honeysuckle, which also needs planting out asap - or at least put into a much bigger pot with a lot more soil in it! It is obviously very unhappy if that's the most growth you've had on it! I suggest you prune it back if you are repotting or replanting it - that will encourage a lot more growth.

That wall of yours looks lovely!

Thanks MMM. I'll see what I can do. I've only a small garden, and want to grow herbs and veg. Gonna have to think creatively about the space.

Cheers to everyone for the help.
