Hi Deb,

A warm welcome on a frosty eve! :flower:

I am just over the border in Wiltshire. We do have a LETS scheme here but I haven't used it.

I do however us the Freecycle Group here and it's fab. You give stuff and take stuff for free. Have you heard of it?
If in doubt ~ use a hammer!

Howdy there Shiney! I have used freecycle, our local one covers up to Bath which is quite a trek from here- one chap came down and brought a van to take away most of my old baby stuff, I was so pleased to see it go- I gained a whole room! and hopefully did them a favour,he was not one of those sneaky types who put your stuff on ebay- I saw that happen with a rocking chair and I was not amused! :( I really recommend LETS, it fosters a great sense of community, we moved into the area and I was keen to find that- our directory has carpenters, fix-it men, chicken feeders, dog walkers you name it, most people can find some craft/skill/time to offer.

Take care
Kind thoughts
Deb

Greetings Nick- what is biodynamics about? I've not come across that before I am intrigued.......I can't blame my girls for liking my peas, I just wish they'd develop more of a taste for the weed shoot that I intended them to eat!

Take care
Kind thoughts
Deb

G'Day Deb, and welcome to the site!

I have recently been to the UK & Europe and it gave me an appreciation for the limits of solar over there. Even in midwinter here I can bake a loaf of bread in the solar oven........over there it ain't gonna happen! I am glad that you had a go though.

Experimental archeology? That is sooooooo cool! I am sure that at least some of that work could have ramifications for being self sufficienish now.

Anyway Deb, great to hear from you.

hi. biodynamics is based on planting by the the moon with planetery influences. plants are 'directed' towards a root, fruit, flower or leaf. this is about as far as I have been able to get with a couple of different trails planting seed from same variety on different days. when you go in depth there are different sprays to regulate growth of plants and preparations to deal with pests. generally 1 step up on the food standard code from organics.
