Feeding chickens lupin seed ?

Post: # 95859Post lorrayne »

I read in J Seymour's SS book that you can feed chucks lupin seed - we have lots of the wild ones in the hedgerows just podding up now - does anyone else feed them to their chucks ? or is there anything I should know before I go and pick them ?

I think there are 2 different types of lupin - ones that are grown commercially and the wild ones. The commercial ones are grown as forage for animals, but as far as I know the wild ones are poisonous - so I probably wouldn't feed the seeds to my chickens.
Found this link which might help:

Anyone know any more?
