only three of them out of a batch of 12 - one got broken before putting under her, 4 eggs unfert, and the rest.. well unfortunately I think the other hens were attacking..from what I saw. Hastily built broody coup (gotta love that pile of pallets we have) and the hen marched out today with these three.

Nice one!

That looks like little Easter eggs in the tub behind the hen?! :? Was she trying to hatch them, too?

I didn't know you were trying!!! Do you have a cockerel?

What are you going to do with all the eggs in six months time (unless they're all male)?

thats marbles in the box.. with water.. helps stops the chicks from drowning. of course i was not organised and did not have marbles.. but did have a collection of pretty hand made ones  hope she appreciated it. they kept tipping them out anyway, so i could do with getting a better water thing.. i had in mind the hen would use the ones in the run, but now have separated them - well they are in the run, but in a coup of their own.

Nope M3 we dont have a cockerel - dont plan to get one either, as we are surrounded by other houses - besides we had some when I was a kid and i dont like the way they can attack you...
Our hen went seriously broody so we asked around for some fert. eggs, and slipped some under her. Any boys will be for the pot, any girls we might hang on it, as we only have 4 hens at the mo. We will prolly do this again, just to raise replacements and meat.

we got the eggs from a collegue of himself's - so grateful to them for letting us have some.

the cockerel is a maran. some of the hens are supposed to be too.. but tbh the eggs were not the right colour... soooo not really sure what we have.
