Reuse Old Items, Clear Some Space

Post: # 92170Post frogbox »

Hi, I posted a reference to this in a previous forum, but I think this is probably a more relevant location.

I have created a website called www.freeuseit.net

It's purpose is to give people a place where they can advertise old unwanted items, that maybe they woudl have thrown away, so that they can be used by some one else.

It's totally free, no charge to join or advertise. You can add upto 6 photos to your ad if you require so people can see clearly what you have to offer.

It's still in it's infancy and desparate for members, please take a look and if you feel like it sign up. The more members the more useful it will become.

Thanks,

Adam

hello Adam

I'm curious as to why you have set this up instead of using one of the sytems already up and running like freecycle? do you have issues with them? are you gaining something out of your site?

I have used freecycle in the past, but my experiences had not always been good.

I once advertised a fireplace, but could not include much detail such as photos, I believe there is a mechanism now, but as a result I got bombarded, and I mean bombarded with e-mails from people thinking it was an old fashioned style fireplace. Maybe experience would have taught me to word it differently.

Also I never found the forum style of the site very condusive or user friendly, so I thought I'd try something different. After setting this up and trying to think about ways of publicising did come across other sites very very similar to mine so other people have obviuosly had the same idea.

I don't charge to join or advertise, but I have included some google ads, it would be nice to cover my costs of hosting the site, and if I did make a bit of money as a result, all well and good.

Do you have an issue with me trying this then?

nope - not at all - reusing is good as far as I am concerned. Just interested in where you are coming from.

Thakns for that, I'm a little bit nervous because I've had some abuse from people who use Freecycle in the past.
