koolaid is an american powdered drink right? I have never tried it. but dont you find it worrying how often it comes up that you can dye wool or fabric with koolaid... er,, something you drink can permenantly dye material! :shock:

lolol s'posed to be very quick and easy for dyeing as it already has so much citric acid in it - don't think I'd want to ingest any though :pale:

Onions and beets can be used to dye wool as well, along with all sorts of other food plants that I can't recall off the top of my head.

Yes, Koolaid is unhealthy, but like so many candies and sodas it does taste good.

I haven't tried it.. and dont intend to with that dyeing capability!

I have been saving onion skins for some time now.. both red and brown.. you need lots and lots to dye. Also heard you can dye with nettles.. we have plenty of those

I tried Koolaid and vodka one Thanksgiving night with some American chums of mine. It sent me a little odd to be honest.

I probably didn't have to drink an entire pitcher's worth though.

Here are the ingredients of kool-aid with a couple of them with some details from wikidepedia.


Ingredients

Tropical Punch: Citric Acid, Salt, Modified Cornstarch,

Red 40 -
In Europe, Allura Red AC is not recommended for consumption by children. It is banned in Denmark, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and Austria
Calcium Phosphate, Artificial Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Artificial Color, Natural Flavor, BHA (Preserves Freshness),

Blue 1 -
It has previously been banned in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland

Grape: Citric Acid, Maltodextrin, Calcium Phosphate, Salt, Artificial Flavor, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Red 40, Blue 1. Lemonade: Citric Acid, Calcium Phosphate, Salt, Maltodextrin, Natural Flavor, Lemon Juice Solids, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Artificial Color, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 5, BHA (Preserves Freshness).
