Most annoying advert

Post: # 91200Post Martin »

this could run and run...............
At the moment, for me, it's either the really annoying M&S advert with the over-lubricious voice-over - "not just overpriced bilge, but M&S overpriced bilge"
OR, the really tasteless one with a "dead" kiddy in the road, with the message about them being alive at 30mph, but dead at 40mph..........which I'm afraid has me tempted to yell "teach the silly brat not to run in the road without looking, and there wouldn't be an accident at all" (has that never occurred to anyone as an even better solution?)

Whenever Asda's 'Why pay more?' slogan comes on, I always shout, 'Well, I could give you ten good reasons!' or, 'Because sometimes it's nice for people to make a living from the food they grow!' or, 'Because sometimes it's nice to have fruit with some nutritional value!' etc etc.... (or, when I'm feeling particularly irate, 'I don't! I pay less! And I eat organic veg, free range meat and all my dry goods come from Waitrose! So there! Hah!')

Are we advertising them by mentioning them on this thread?

Well my list includes

The dancing car ad

All supermarket ads. in fact me and Dave sing "live the lie, live the lie" to replace the words in one of the supermarkets ads.

Cranberry juice ad. Smug cow drinking said juice winds me up for some reason.

Does searching for car insurance drive you mad. No that f**king ad does.

Any of the injury claims ads. "I was juggling with chainsaws on thin ices with a two bar electric fire under my arm, when someone threw me an alsation" ahh there all idiots.

That one with the bloke who gets his mum to remortgage the house so that she can go on holiday. "what about your inheritance she said" don't worry some vulture finance company will have their dirty little mits on it.

All the anti smoking ads, make me want a fag.

It's not easy being green... We will reduce our carbon foot print by 20XX yep because you f**king have to.

Our energy has the greenest electricity than any other supplier, my arse what about good energy and eco logic.

We will recycle your old tv when we sell you a new one. Yep, because you f**king have to.

Hmm I am sure there are more to follow, I really get annoyed by ads.

That bloody building society that has become a bank and gets its workers to sing about interest rates butchering songs that you actually like so that when you hear them again you end up singing about f**king interest rates. :banghead:

Well the one that I LIKE is the one where they make a car out of cake all to the sound of Julie Andrews singing My Favourite Things.

I do get the impression that Andy is a 'little' wound up by rather a lot of adverts.

Oh and I love the Sheila's Wheels jingle! And Churchill the dog!

The trick is to never let kids watch tv with adverts - a friend switched from his kids watching ITV to Cbeebies and within days the "Nag" factor had fallen to almost zero

Seeing that at the age of 6 I was a silly brat and ran out onto the road and hit a car (yes, I hit it, not the other way round!), I'm quite glad it wasn't speeding.

The Churchill dog looks just like my great uncle Alf!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

anything with Jamie Oliver in it.
All "guilt trip" adverts, if I gave £2 a month to everyon ho guilt trips me in the middle of neighbours I'd be bankrupt by june. If and when I give to charity, I do it direct to the causes I feel strongly about like WHCM, childline, scope and mind.
as for advertising in this thread, that last comment I made mentioned:
WHCM saved my life for £3 a week and worked around my husband's shifts so I didn't have to find money or worry about childcare on his "on" weeks,
childline,
Scope
and finally MIND
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

All the Halifax ads, every one. What an eejit that Howard is. Actually Andy, those giving up smoking adverts are horribly depressing now you mention it....
