Deeply Dispondent

Post: # 90778Post The Riff-Raff Element »

Help me please - I need to hear some good news.

We've had fantastic weather here for days and days. I've not had a day off for over three weeks - getting the gîtes ready for the nex season and "they" arrive this afternoon for a jolly Easter break - and I've been planning a long weekend of planting.

All the seeds and tubers are ready to go, I've got the wood for the new chicken house and the cooler is ready for the bottles of beer. I've even drawn out the planting plan. Such is my enthusiam and preparation for the new season.

But it seems as though it is going to be freezing cold driving rain for the entire weekend. I'll go out an do it anyway, but I just won't enjoy it very much.

Bluntly, I need cheering up. Does anyone have any items of good news they could share? Perhaps you were able to rescue a kitten from a well, or you put on a pair of jeans that you hadn't worn for a while and found a fiver (any currency) that you had completely forgotton about, or maybe a man you hadn't met before gave you flowers.

Anything, really.

Thanks.

I've just put a huge smile on my secretary's face - does that count?

She is having a crappy day. There are only 3 secretaries in but all the fee-earners are in. Another fee-earner has come down with a MASSIVE load of photocopying that needs to go out tonight and he is being unreasonable about it. The office junior has asked for help so I have loaned my secretary. On top of that, I have just had to make an application which requires a lot of photocopying. I phoned up to apologise. There was deathly silence. Then she said she was going to put the phone down on me.

So first of all, I sent her this:

Then I went up stairs and put an Easter Egg on her desk.

Then I sent her this when she giggled

... and then I did the photocopying for her.

She grinned and gave me a hug.

I suppose it is the little things that make life worth living and a hug and a smile work so here you go Jon, sounds like you need it

Have a good weekend no matter what the weather is like

I have had some nasty emails from freecycle would-be member (I am a moderator)... and I hurt my wrist again whilst digging (It seems I twist the fork in the wrong way)

But...

I did get some shelves up that I had been putting off for ages... :king:

I know it's not quite what you were looking for... sorry :?

I bought a size 14 skirt.

And I can get it round my waist, and I can even do up the button AND zip.
:)

ok so it's a large size 14, which is basically a small 16..... but considering in oct 07 I couldn't get my size 20 jeans to do up, this is nothing short of a miracle (a miracle brought about by excercise, wearing my toddler and severe chip deprivation)

also, here's a banana on a llama.

Oh WW - please will you come and be my boss? I have to put up with a spineless twonk who has basically told me I have to ignore the law for the sake of village politics! Grrr!
Anyway not sure if this counts as good news of just a good ol' girly b**ch - but it put a smile on my face anyway! I just saw my x husbands new wife (over weight, high maintenance, airoplane blonde with a worse temper than his mother!) looking very p****d off with her 2 YO son having a massive tantrum BEFORE she managed to get him into the supermarket. The best bit is I was standing right behind her being very nice to her friend (who I didn't realise was with her until they walked away) and she turned around and saw me - the look on her face was a picture!
I'm a bad person - I know - but come on they make TV adverts about moments like that! lol

...and I like your good news. That brought a smile to my face so you are DEFINITELY entitled to enjoy the moment.

Along the MrsF route, I decided to try on a pair of jeans that were regular jeans in my fatter days, and had been consigned to the cupboard post pregnancy. They are rather unforgiving, and not stretch denim, so I can kid myself. Put them on today, and although the muffin top hanging over the waistband would suggest that I possibly SHOULDN'T be wearing them, nevertheless I can do them up!

(Bending over is still a bit dicey).

How shallow, how glorious!

More good news - School's out for Easter!

(to balance my vainglorious news, we are off to the MIL in about 36 hours  )

Not exactly news but the sun was out for a bit this morning, I left work early and got some jobs done. Then I sat and cuddled the bf for a while. Now I am here enjoying Ssish after a nice meal, with a cat on my lap for company and 4 whole days off work. I can't think of anything better

Thanks, chaps (and I use that word in an entirely non-gender specific way). Reading those comments has helped a lot.

Into every life a little sunshine must shine.

Also, the rain has so far failed to arrive so I am entertaining the fantasy that the bunch n'erdowells and layabouts at MeteoFrance have got it all about face and it's going to be sun sun sun all the way.

AND I did well when I went shopping and found a nearly-French pineapple (Côte d'Ivoire) and some genuine European bananas (Martinique is part of France, France is in Europe, ergo, bananas from Martinique are European. If you don't belive me, take a look at a Euro note and the Island is on it. In the corner. Next to Reunion. European cane sugar producer.) So I can have a pineapple and banana smoothee for breakfast tomorrow a.m.

If I catch pnuemonia in the garden tomorrow it will be worth it when I get my new salad spuds in 60 days time.

I've got good news!

We were supposed to be going down to Bristol to have J (my 4 year old son) assessed for a potential operation - he was born with a cleft lip and palate and a doc up here said that he should have his nose made longer (it's a little short because of the cleft) and was all prepared to do the op - I wasn't happy and he said we could go back to J's original surgeon (done 3 ops so far and a magnificent job too!) - I had a call from the original surgeon after I questioned the benefit of such an op... only to be told that it would not be a good idea... and would cause problems for the future.

YAY - I'm still on cloud nine actually. Relief from the stress of a potential op coupled with relief from the fact that we could have unwittingly caused problems for our son if we hadn't questioned it.

Shirley - that is great news    So glad to hear it, well done you.

Riff-raffI think if you have a look at some of the photos on Stonehead's blog you might consider yourself practically tropical... Stoney laughs in the face of pneomonia

(Is this the point where someone informs me that Stoney hasn't been online recently because he has suffered a bad bout of pneomonia...)

just checked out his blog... he's still there... phew
