Well chemistry was my least favourite subject at school so I have no idea what it is called when abbreviated in the short form! :lol:

I do have a flexible double stainless steel flue that goes 16 metres up my chimney (as I said before). We were told that it is now the law in France to do so.

I have just read the middle bits of this thread (I hadn't realised there were so many replies when I posted mine)

I am saddened by some of the vitriol on this thread. Whilst I think it is great that an expert on the suject is pointing out problems with peoples replies, there is no need for the ridicule being given.

There is nothing an amateur cannot learn (given time and dedication) that an expert knows already, after all the expert started out his career untrained also.

I just hope that in a job this size that most people would only rely on forum replies as a very first investigation into the task, and then put a fair bit of research into the task, which I think the expert here is not giving people credit for.
