They make really bad pickled eggs too...

This is all quite disturbing
Is that why people go to catering college these days? to learn to open a tube of egg
I have never had a pickled egg...
I have a few questions
Can you use them in egg mayonaise? (ie, for a filler in a baked potato)
Can you slice them and have them in a salad?
Or do you just munch them straight from the jar?
When I have hens, I would like to keep some for use in the winter, so it sounds like a good idea to pickle them.

Well: I worked in a hotel kitchen once - the cheap type, that caters for coach tours. We didn't always use them, but had them in stock for busy times. Yak.
And then - I went to have breakfast in a roadside cafe that actually looked quite decent last year - advertised "good home cooking"

Mostly you just eat them straight from the jar. In the NE of England the tradition at the pub is that you get a bag of crisps, the barman opens them out and pops a pickled egg on top.Annpan wrote:

The are nice added to a salad, or in sandwiches, I think for a filling for a baked potato they would be too vinegary. They go well with anything that you would consider adding a pickled onion to I would say as a rough guide.

Ah well, Annpan - different country, different tastes...
Believe me, a lot of stuff that's eaten regularly here would cause the same reaction in Germany: salt and vinegar crisps; vinegar on chips; chips with everything; deep fried pizza (etc!)...
And of course, warm beer; beer without head...
