Self-contained growbox
Self-contained growbox
I'm thinking of setting up a few of the "leave it alone apart from watering" boxes (see www.josho.com/gardening.htm) this year. These are based on the Earthbox system which, I have to say, looks almost too good to be true. Has anyone used these or something similar? If so, what kinds of results did you get?

I think I can recall Nev tried these... other than that I'm no help.

 Yup!
Made 4 of them! They do work pretty well and I have gotten some good yields. What i will say is that with the soil layer not being hugely deep, you run out of nutrients fairly quickly, but if you top up with some liquid manure as well as water it makes up for it.
They are about 12 months old now and still going strong. There are piccies on my blog somewhere....
