Allotments in Springburn Glasgow - Please help
I was told by the council that there are allotments available in Springburn. This would be great for me as I am at college there four days a week. I have written to the person in charge several times at the address given to me by the council but have had no reply. His name is Tenzing Norbu and I believe a relative of the Sherpa that helped sir Edmund Hilary. Can anyone help me contact this person. My postage stamp garden no longer can meet my families needs.

Thanks for the reply
The name goes back to my preteen days when I had a very hot temper and my tirades amused everyone including my parents and peers. Nowadays any loss of temper is few and far between, I am told however, that the tantrumfly label still sticks well on these occassions. A bit of when I have a tantrum, I "fly" off the handle. :)
I have a long term disability and live on benefits. Last year I managed a good supply of veg from my garden, but now need more room. The difference it makes to the food bill pays the extra gas and electric in the winter.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello there
I would try phoning instead, they might just be busy. There is a number at the end of this webpage

Hi - I've just joined the this forum, but couldn't help but notice this post. I have a plot at Springburn - you have the right man, although his name is Norbu Tenzing. I've never been sure if he's an actual relative or not, because someone once told me that the name Tenzing in Nepal was a common as McIntosh in Scotland
But thats by the by, have you got any further? Without wanting to be slanderous, Norbu's communication isn't the best at times :) As far as I know there's vacant plots - if I can help any drop me a message.
Cheers
Kaz.

It's a half plot I've got my name down for in EK as well. From talking to friend at the council the half plot waiting list is a lot shorter than the full plot list.
The idea being I get the half plot and start on that and if I can manage the full plot get my name down for one of them then. No point in me taking up a full plot if I'm not going to be able to use it all if someone else needs/wants it. I just hate seeing plots lying either unused or only partly used when I know others are waiting on a chance at the space.
As I say theres plenty of plots in Glasgow going free that I could probably get my grubby hands on if I talked to the right people but as I don't drive it makes getting to and from the sites impractical.

Hey Stigweard...I'm going to be over at the 'lotment at the weekend - if I see Norbu I'll see what's what with the vacant plots. It's ditch-digging day on sunday (trying to alleviate some water logging problems) so hopefully he'll be around.
I'll let you know - and let me know if you don't hear anything because I'm happy to keep on his case - it pains me to see empty allotments so the more people we get in, the happier I'll be!!

Thanks Kaz.
When I got home yesterday I looked him up in the phonebook and gave him a call. He said that there was a waiting list of about 3 or 4 people at the moment which surprised me as I visited the allotments on Saturday and thought that some were vacant.
Anyway, I've sent him a letter with my contact details so when one becomes available hopefully he'll give me a call.
For anyone else trying to contact him: I recommend looking it up in the phonebook - the address on the sheet from Glasgow Council is subtly incorrect.
